Mafia Noir Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to Mafia Noir (previously “Mafia helper”), the app for hosting the Mafia party game on iPhone and iPad (the “App”), developed and published by ArtingSoft (“we”, “us”, “our”). It explains what happens to your information when you use the App, and it sets out the limits of our responsibility. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
In short: Mafia Noir doesn’t collect any personal data. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. It works offline: the narrator’s voices, music and sounds are built into the App. Player names, settings and saved games stay on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else.
1. Information we collect
We don’t collect, store, sell or share any personal data through the App. The App doesn’t ask for your email address, phone number, location, contacts or Apple Account details. It doesn’t use advertising identifiers and doesn’t track you across other apps or websites. We don’t have servers that the App connects to, and the App doesn’t include third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools.
2. Data stored on your device
To work, the App stores the following only on your device, inside the App’s own storage:
- your game setup: the number of players, the names or nicknames you type in for them, the roles you’ve chosen and any custom roles you’ve created;
- the game in progress, including dealt roles, night actions, votes and the game journal, saved automatically so that the game survives the App being closed;
- your settings, such as language, music, effects and narrator volume, rain, vibration, narrator voice, graphics quality and game rules;
- whether Mafia Noir Pro is unlocked on this device.
We can’t see, access or recover this data. It isn’t sent to us or to anyone else. If you delete the App, this data is deleted as well. Depending on your device settings, it may be included in your iCloud or computer backups, which are handled by Apple, not by us.
3. Player names
Typing in player names is optional. If you do, they’re used only to show who is who during the game and are stored on your device as described above. You don’t need to use real names: nicknames work just as well. Please only enter the names of people who are happy to play with you. When the device is passed around the table or placed in the middle of it, other players can see what’s on the screen, so keep that in mind when deciding what to type in.
4. Narrator and sound
The narrator’s voices are recordings that come with the App. If you choose one of the iOS system voices, the text is spoken by your device’s built-in speech feature, on the device itself. The App never uses the microphone and never records or listens to you or your players.
5. Motion sensors
When you look at your role card, the App reads your device’s tilt so that the light moves across the card. This happens in real time, on the device only. The motion data isn’t stored or sent anywhere, and iOS doesn’t ask for a permission for it.
6. Purchases
Mafia Noir Pro is a one-time in-app purchase sold through the App Store. Payments are processed entirely by Apple. We don’t receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details. The App only receives confirmation from Apple of whether Pro has been purchased, so that it can unlock Pro features on your device. You can restore a purchase on another device with “Restore Purchases”.
If you first downloaded the App when it was the earlier “Mafia helper”, you get Pro as a thank-you. To check this, the App asks Apple for the version of the App you originally downloaded. It doesn’t learn anything else about you or your account.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its own rules. Apple’s handling of your information is described in the Apple Privacy Policy, and the purchase terms are set out in Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement, which serves as the App’s terms of use.
7. Children
Mafia is a social deduction game about a fictional town, mafia and night-time eliminations, with simulated gunshots and dramatic sound effects. The App is made for groups of friends and families to play together and isn’t specifically directed at children under 13. Because the App collects no personal data from anyone, it collects no personal data from children either. The App contains no ads, no chat and no links to social networks. Purchases always go through Apple’s own payment screen. Parents can control them with Apple’s Ask to Buy and Screen Time features.
8. Your games and data
Your setups and saved games exist only on your device. We don’t keep copies, so we can’t restore anything that has been lost. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren’t responsible for the loss, deletion, corruption or unavailability of any game, setup, player list, setting or other data stored in the App, whatever the cause. This includes, for example, deleting the App, updating or reinstalling it, a change in iOS, a lost, stolen, damaged or reset device, running out of storage, or an error in the App.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The App is a tool to help you host a game. It’s provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. These include warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with your device or that it will meet your expectations.
Game results, the way players behave during and after a game, and any disputes between players are the responsibility of the people playing. Please play in a safe place, keep the volume at a comfortable level and look after the device as it’s passed around.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ArtingSoft and its developers won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages. Nor will they be liable for any of the following, however they arise:
- loss of data or saved games;
- loss of time, enjoyment or opportunity;
- damage to a device, for example if it’s dropped while being passed around;
- the outcome of a game, or disagreements or conflicts between players;
- any non-material harm, including moral damages, emotional distress, mental anguish, frustration, disappointment or upset.
This applies whether the claim is based on contract, tort (including negligence), statute or any other legal theory, and even if we were told such damage was possible. If, despite this, we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App and in-app purchases during the 12 months before the claim.
Some countries don’t allow certain warranties or liability to be excluded. In those countries, the exclusions above apply only to the extent the law allows. Nothing in this policy excludes liability that can’t be excluded by law, nor does it affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the Ukrainian Law “On Personal Data Protection” may give you rights over your personal data. Because the App doesn’t collect or store any personal data about you on our side, we hold nothing to access, correct, export or delete, apart from any emails you’ve sent us. To remove everything the App has stored on your device, including player names, simply delete the App.
11. Emails to us
If you write to our support email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and don’t share it with anyone. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
12. This website
This page is hosted on GitHub Pages and uses Google Fonts. It doesn’t use cookies, analytics or tracking. However, your browser connects to GitHub and Google to load it, and they may log technical data such as your IP address. See the GitHub Privacy Statement and the Google Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features to the App. When we do, we’ll publish the new version on this page and update the effective date above. By continuing to use the App after a change, you accept the updated policy.
